Hermosa means "beautiful" and there is no doubt about its beauty. This charming city on the beach is one of the three so-called Beach cities. It is located in Los Angeles County and borders Manhattan Beach in the north and Redondo Beach in the south. It is located 5 miles south of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and it is about 18 miles from downtown Los Angeles. The city has a total population of 19,506 spread out in a fairly small area. The city is only one square mile in size.

Hermosa Beach has a lot to offer. Whether you are into surfing, beach volleyball, paddle boarding or simply going for a walk on the beach - Hermosa Beach is never boring! It is also populated by a lot of professional and Olympic volleyball players.

The beautiful city of Hermosa has become a popular spot to live in, and according to data from the LA times, real estate prices increased almost 20% between 1999 and 2005. The communities in the area are ranked amongst the most expensive places to live in America by Money Magazine.

The city recently renovated the city, making it even more deserving of its name. The project was completed in 2010 and around 4.3 million dollar were spent on the renovation to renovate the upper Pier avenue, add trees and a landscaped median, widening the sidewalks, improving lighting and adding crosswalks.
