Are you looking for a home in one of California’s safest cities with a high quality of life, easy
beach access, and highly-ranked schools? If so, look no further than Rancho Palos Verdes.
According to SafeWise, a security product review website, this Los Angeles County city ranks
fourth on the site’s seventh annual Safest Cities Report, beating out 46 competitors to secure a
coveted top five spot. Using recent crime statistics and data from the Federal Bureau of
Investigation, more than 50 California cities were ranked from several different categories
including violent and property crime.
According to the report, all 50 safest cities in California have violent crime rates below the state,
regional, and national averages. And, 38 of the 50 cities saw less than 100 violent crimes in the
last year and 17 kept violent crime rates under 1 per 1,000 people.
Even so, Rancho Palos Verdes has the distinction of moving up in the report, and becoming even
safer than it was two years ago, when the city enjoyed the number eight spot. Last year, it was
listed as California’s seventh safest city, and now has moved up to number four.
Buying a home in a safe neighborhood is an important consideration to most people, so it’s no
wonder the city is a boon for homeowners seeking to relocate. Rancho Palos Verdes is a great
place to consider, with some 41,961 residents and a median income of $133,286.
There are many other reasons Rancho Palos Verdes is a great choice. The city sits on a 13-square
mile peninsula that offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, Catalina Island, the Santa
Monica coastline, and Los Angeles Basin from an elevation of 1457sqft. It boasts two high
schools nationally ranked within the country’s top 100 high schools and has campuses in
beautiful locations across the Peninsula.
The weather is temperate, ranging from 51°F to 76°F throughout the year and rarely dips
below 46°F or rises above 84°F. The ideal weather makes it easy for residents to take advantage
of the extensive network of horse and hiking trails, coastline beach access, multiple golf courses,
and many parks.
